Natick Education Foundation Receives $50,000 from Middlesex Savings Bank

Gift will be used to support Natick-wide education opportunities

Natick Education Foundation (NEF) today announced it received a $50,000 gift from Middlesex Savings Bank. The support will allow NEF to continue its funding of programs and initiatives that support the Natick Public Schools as well as important community-wide education opportunities.

“We are so excited about this unexpected and generous gift from Middlesex Savings Bank. This says a lot about how much Middlesex cares about their communities,” said Kyla P’an, NEF Co-President. “It will allow us to expand the work we are already doing to enhance and enrich the education our children receive through the schools and continue to support some of our efforts related to life-long learning in the community.”

The Natick Education Foundation (NEF) is a community-based non-profit organization in Natick whose mission is to support public education and the awareness of the importance of education in the health and growth of the community as a whole. NEF has been in existence since 1991 and an all-volunteer organization. Since 1991, NEF has contributed over $900,000 to the Natick Public Schools and other community education efforts.

“Middlesex Savings Bank has great respect for the education foundations in our community,” said Michael McAuliffe, President and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank. “They work hard to support projects and programs that foster learning and creativity. We hope these donations will make their jobs easier this year and are excited to see their existing academic programs flourish or new ones come to life.”

NEF fulfills its mission through a variety of programs and initiatives, including: funding classroom based grants awarded to Natick teachers and administrators; community education outreach efforts including support of TEDxNatick (day-long programs of stimulating talks which attract community members of all ages); funding professional development initiatives such as the NEF Master Teachers fellowships; funding scholarships to future educators; and supporting parent skill workshops to help parents/guardians become stronger partners in their students’ academic and personal development.
