2018-2019 NEF Grant Award Winners

Congratulations to this year’s Natick Education Foundation grant award winners! Nature Nurtures Natick Preschool Claudia Price Summary: Preschoolers will develop social-emotional skills such as empathy and compassion by caring for schoolyard wildlife: Monarch butterflies. The children will plant and maintain the Monarch’s only host plant – Milkweed. The Monarchs will be raised from eggs and caterpillars found on Milkweed plants. When the Monarchs emerge from their chrysalis, they will be tagged with Monarch Watch migration tags and released. Data will be sent to Monarch Watch for their research on migration patterns. 2018-2019 NEF Grant Program Announcement

The Natick Education Foundation is pleased to announce the 2018-2019 NEF Grant Program. The Natick Education Foundation’s primary purpose is to support NPS’ teachers, staff, and students with resources that are not funded through ordinary budgetary channels as well as to encourage programs that enhance and enrich the curriculum. Teachers and staff at all the Natick Public Schools (preK – 12) are encouraged to apply. Teacher on Special Assignment :

In Spring 2017, Natick Education Foundation voted to approve a one-time, special compensation grant to help support a one-year “Teacher on Special Assignment” [TOSA] role within the Natick elementary schools. A TOSA is a teacher leader hired from within a school system, whose task it is to offer instructional coaching to their district. NEF is thrilled that Brown Elementary third grade teacher, Jed Stefanowicz, was appointed to the position of TOSA, acting as a “Technology Integration Coach” for his peers across all five schools. New for 2017-2018, NEF Mini-Grants!

As the summer wraps up, the Natick Education Foundation is looking forward to the 2017-2018 school year! This year, NEF is honored to support the NPS Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), who will lead STEM professional development in all five elementary schools. As this is such a large initiative, NEF is unable to offer its traditional grant cycles. Instead, we have committed to funding up to $10,000 in mini-grants (less than $500 each) at the middle and high school levels.
